Happy Groundhog Day!
So I was looking online for some awesome Groundhog Day stuff, and my eye fell on this website: Plush Groundhog Gifts, and in one word: Awesome! Really fun Groundhog gifts! I like the first two ones; the little plush one and the sign that warns for Groundhogs crossing. Those are really nice.
Also really nice is one that I saw on Etsy, so i'm not sure how long it will be available, but i thought it was super cute.
So it's supposed to be Winter for 6 more weeks according to the Groundhog in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania; this because the creature 'saw his shadow'. I'm not really sure what that means, or how one determines whether or not a groundhog sees it's own shadow. So I checked wikipedia to see what that means, and here is what the all-wise Wiki says about it: 'According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day then spring will come early. If it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks'.
So I suppose it was sunny in Pennsylvania this morning!
It's a fun little tradition though and I personally think groundhogs are pretty neat: kind of plumb and furry.
So again, Happy Groundhog Day, and I know it's everybody's favorite movie!

It's time for the new introductions! There are so many new items and so many exciting story lines that i don't know where to begin. So i think it's best to introduce the year piece by piece, and we'll start with Christmas In The City.
I'm quite excited about this, since i actually have a Christmas in the City Village at home so i take an extra special and good look at these specific pieces. I'm really happy what dept56 has achieved this year. One of the cool features of this year, is that they made a special little selection of inner city shops; if you look at the 'new Christmas in the City list you'll see that Wakefield Books, Rachael's Candy Shop and the Atwater's Coffee House really belong with each other. You can put them in a row, or in a street and it will look like a real shopping street, with a coffee place, a book store and a candy shop. I think that is really nice and it really brings the line back to it's core: to create a real live city!
The image in the top left of this blog is the movie theater, and you can see that piece as an anchor of a shopping street, it will look really fun to see that lit up! Fun fact about the Fox Theater: the red and blue lines at the front of the building actually light up! It's a new neon light that Department 56 uses this year and may use more if it works out the way we all want it to. Soon we'll add a little movie, or a secondary image to the item so you can see what it looks like. Here we're very excited about this. Too bad it's still so far away until we can setup our houses :)

I can't believe it myself, but the Holiday season is barely over and we're starting to talk about Easter and Spring! Now, we are based in Virginia, and I can tell you, it sure looks like Spring over here! Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the mid 60's! That's crazy for the end of January. But it does get me in the spirit of Spring! And when i think of spring, I think of Snowbunnies!
This year's Snowbunnies have a unique look to them compared to other years:

• A nice green base where the Snowbaby is placed upon
• Many of the pieces are adorned with cute and colorful ribbon. This ribbon is either an accessory to the snowbaby or creates a hip skirt for her!

Another difference from other years is that we decided to sell the Collectible Animal as a set of two, instead of two different SKU's. Department 56 brings the Lamb back this year as the collectible animal. The cute little lambs set is one that is sitting and one that is standing.
Last year we had the sitting and standing hens, of which we still have some left.
Everything in the Snowbunnies series is limited in quantities and for 2012 only!
